North Burgundy and Chablis Deluxe / 4 days
Day 1 Arrival
Arrival in Auxerre. This is an opportunity to visit the historic old town. The cathedral of St. Etienne and the Abbey of St. Germain with its magnificent crypt are a must and a good start to a great holiday. The old town is a great place to stroll around before sampling the fine French cuisine.
Day 2 Auxerre - Chablis 38 km
You leave Auxerre and head towards Pontigny. Small forest roads accompany you on the way to the Cistercian church. It is one of the last witnesses of the great intellectual movement of the Cistercians. After visiting the abbey, you cycle through the Chablis wine region. This is the largest white wine area in France with a single appellation. On the programme, a tasting in a typical cellar. You stay in a charming 4* hotel.
Day 3 Chablis - Auxerre 37 km
After visiting Chablis, you will leave the town in the direction of Saint-Bris-le-Vineux, a town famous for its Sauvignon wine. The cellars of Bailly are not far away: they open their doors to you on this 4 ha cave where you enjoy a guided tour and a tasting of Crémant de Bourgogne. After this moment of pleasure, you take the road to Auxerre, along the Canal du Nivernais.
