Jardin de l'Arquebuse
A new graphic identity... a new logo... for a new name
As a matter of course, in keeping with the "spirit of the place" and its mission to promote biodiversity and the return of nature to the city, the Jardin des Sciences has become... the Jardin de l'Arquebuse
MUSEUM - PAVILLON DE L'ARQUEBUSE :
How did the diversity of life come about on our planet? In Burgundy and everywhere else: what is the current state of biodiversity? What do scientists propose to explain this diversity? No species lives alone: what do we know about the relationships between living beings? What is the influence of humans on biodiversity today? Are we heading for a sixth biological extinction crisis?
The new museum invites you to reflect on these questions through fun exhibitions accessible to young and old alike.
Between current scientific knowledge and public awareness, you will discover what the preservation of biodiversity, a fundamental issue of sustainable development, consists of. With its renovated museographic spaces and its entirely updated discourse, the museum presents the history of life on Earth and current biodiversity, in the heart of a privileged space: the Jardin de l'Arquebuse of the city of Dijon. Thanks to its three entities (museum, planetarium and botanical garden), the Jardin de l'Arquebuse is an original structure for the dissemination and sharing of scientific knowledge, which offers a complete, synthetic, coherent and transverse vision of all the natural sciences (sciences of the Universe, of the Earth, of life). Its objective is to highlight the relationships between nature, humans and the environment.
Extend your visit to the botanical garden and discover the diversity of wild and cultivated plants (botanical school, rose garden, arboretum), but also the "ordinary" urban biodiversity: insect hotel, domestic beehives, flower meadow. Come and see! Discover!
Free access to all events, subject to availability.
THE PLANETARIUM :
In addition to the projection room, the planetarium building houses temporary and permanent exhibitions as well as a live weather station.
The weather, the time of an exhibition and a coffee break! The exhibitions on display deal with many subjects related to biodiversity: "Seeds, they are among us!", "I'm going to eat you! Predators for biodiversity", "Wolf, fox and Co", "Bio'Inspiration", "Nature Incognito, the hidden face of cities"...
As a place for disseminating knowledge, this space also offers multimedia terminals, workshops, visits, videoconferences, etc., which give everyone access to scientific culture in a fun way. A "weather" area allows visitors to consult live weather forecasts thanks to the Météosat satellite.
PROGRAMME OF EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITIES :
We offer a number of discovery workshops linked to the life and earth sciences programmes, adapted to each level, from nursery to high school. It is possible for us to work with your pupils on a wide range of topics and to design "tailor-made" workshops in line with the programmes. In addition, as part of the participatory observatory of urban biodiversity, we invite teachers and students to share our desire to better understand and preserve biodiversity by participating in participatory science programmes.
