Menhir de Broye

It is a tapered granite structure measuring 4.80 metres and weighing an estimated 18 tonnes. It was moved in 1913.
Its original location was 150 metres away. It was moved to the side of the road to be more visible.
It was discovered and exhumed in October 1913 by Mr Ramoussy, a farmer, at a place called "L'Ouche à l'Hôte". The menhir was lying down when it was discovered. Around the menhir, in the area to the west of Mont Jenot, stone axes and knives were found, demonstrating that the ancient inhabitants had gone from being nomads to farmers and that they made objects on an industrial scale. The special features of this menhir are the engravings on one of its faces: a figure in a praying pose and a polished axe blade.
